Best Practices Analyzer cannot collect all data points from the environment unless Lync Server 2013 backward compatibility tools are installed on this computer.


Issue: Warning message received while running Lync Server 2013 Best Practice Analyzer.

Warning message: Best Practices Analyzer cannot collect all data points from the environment unless Lync Server 2013 backward compatibility tools are installed on this computer.
 
Problem Statement: When you run BPA on Lync 2013, you will see the above warning message. If you have not install all prerequisite then you will receive warning message. You can eliminate this warning message by installing WMI Backward Compatibility Package.

Resolution:

Download Lync Server 2013 Best practice analyzer:  


There are common prerequisite for Lync BPA however compatibility package is must to run BPA:

·        Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.

·        Lync Server 2013, Core Components.

·        WMI Backward Compatibility Package. Install ‘OCSWMIBC.msi’ tool.

·        Windows PowerShell 3.0.

Steps to Install WMI Backward Compatibility Package.

1.     Browse Lync Server 2013 Media and got to following path.

Path: \SETUP\AMD64\SETUP\OCSWMIBC.MSI. 
2.     Double click on OCSWMIBC.MSC and following screen instruction.

3.     Now you can run the BPA and see the result.
